What's red and black and....?

Got a 1500 point game in this weekend vs. a friend's Tyranid horde...

It didn't end well for me - at the end of turn 5, I had a drop pod on the board...

Game 2 at 1000 points....

Game two was vs. the Grot Revolution.  His list was:
  • Big Mek w/KFF, Cybork, Eavy Armor
  • 18 Grotz w/Handler
  • 10 Grotz w/Handler
  • 10 Grotz w/Handler
  • 10 Grotz w/Handler
  • 2 Rokkit Grot Tanks
  • 3 Rokkit Grot Tanks
  • 4 Grotzooka Grot Tanks
  • 3 Grotzooka Killa Kanz
  • Grot Mega Tank w/3 Grotzookas, 2 twin linked Kustom Mega Blastas

Big Guns again, this time with the 12" deployment zone.  I setup, roughly midfield so I could go either way with things.  He setup the rokkit grot tanks (two units) on my left and everything else on my right.  18 Grot unit with Mek and one of the 10 grot were on the board, the other two were in reserve.

I sent the Black rage (small) assault squad and predator to the left to take on the tanks and everything else to the right.  Learning fro experience from last time we played, I know that the grotzooka's will hurt (pure wounds and rolling dice) so I knew I needed to get to them early.

The Baal took out the small tank squad on the first turn netting me First Blood and then there was three turns of dancing before I cleaned up that side of the board.  The large assault squad did some passing by stuff on the tanks before hitting the megatank.  Which I destroyed... which meant I was all nice and clumped up for the grotzooka response.  End of that turn and I've got Astorath and a Sang. Priest standing in a pile of dead bodies...  :)

On my next turn, the predator and dread were able to take care of the kans while astorath and sang priest took care of the grots on that side.  Sang Priest and Astorath split up to each take one a 10 grot unit.

The little bastards kept making their moral checks though.  :)

Game ended on Turn 7 with me getting one objective, Linebreaker, First Blood, and Warlord - him having nothing.

Game 1 at 1000 points...

Line of dooooooooooooooooooo  *cough*... oooooooom

So, escalation league at 1000 points.  Astorath, 10 assault marines with two plasma pistols led by sgt with power fist, 5 assault marines with one plasma pistol led by sgt with power fist, Sanguinary Priest with a power sword and hand flamer, Furioso Librarian, and a Baal predator.

First game was against an 11-man Grey Knight terminator army (2x5 with halberds and a psycannon, 1 sword, justicar with a thunder hammer, led by brother captain with psycannon) and a land raider.

Mission was "Big Guns Never Tire"on a Vanguard Strike layout.

At the cost of 7 assault marines, I wiped him off the board.  Highlights include his Brother Captain charging my dreadnought (only to realize that.. it was a very bad idea)

I send the assault marines around in a classic pincher move; left flank was Astorath, Sang. Priest, and the 10-man "normal" squad - right flank was the 5-man crazy squad, dread, and baal.  Doing that, meant I had FNP on the left flank and a 5+ cover on the right (via the librarian dread).  I went over/around the land raider till the terminators were handled - at which point, some power fist and the dread went to go carve it up.

2 games in @ 500pts

First up is the setup I did for my 500 point list.  It's Astorath and 2x5 man assault marines with a plasma pistol and the sgt. with a powerfist.  (or - Ark Angel of the Aporkalypse, 2 units of storm boyz with a kustom blasta led by a nob with a power klaw).

This one was vs. Grey Knights.  Highlights of the game include his brotherhood champion dying to a challenge with Astorath and then promptly taking him with him in his special thing that the brotherhood champions do.  Game ended with 2 nobs on the board... and that was it.

This is my game #2.  It's Dave's Grot Revolutionary Army, vs. 2 (now with ForgeWorld!).  2 Units of Grot tanks, 1 unit of killa kans, a 10 grot and a 20 grot unit, all led by a mek with a KFF.  Game ended with 1 Grot Tank and 1 slightly wounded killa kan on the board... and, that was it.  :)

Now, on to my 1000 point build.  I need some objectives.

They call me mellow yellow...

Below is a series of pictures as I was getting the first layer of paint down on the Tyrandis.  I'm not going to make it for the escalation league - so... yeah.

First - Harmagaunts, rippers and objective markers primed in white.

Next, All the termigants in yellow.

I trapped a few flies in the wet paint - here's a close up.  :)

And, finally - the rest of the bugs in yellow.

Blood Bowl Finals...

4 players, single elimination.  This is me vs. Skaven.  Were it a league game, he would have been hurting for his next game - but alas and alak, it was was a resurrection style.  So, even though I beat the tar out of him, he did end up pulling a 2-0 victory (and, I do count my lucky stars that I kept him to just two scores).

There was no quarter offered, and I didn't make any obvious mistakes...  there's just something about a gutter runner with mv 10 and sprint..  :)

On the painting side of things - it was a reasonably nice weekend, and I was able to get all the bigger bugs primed.  Tomorrow, if the weather holds I'm going to try and get the hormagaunts and gargoyles primed.  This whole "not having a garage to spray in" is getting kinda old.  :)

First (two) game(s) with the Tyranids...

...in like 5 years.  :)

This is after my setup... lets just say it went downhill from there.  :)  Dave was playing a Deathwing list (first time with the new codex).  He stayed on my left side of table, so everything had to swing around.  Belial and his 10-man squad deep struck about where the hive tyrant is in this picture and it took 6 turns worth of combat, the huve tyrant, tyrant guard, and about 40 gaunts to kill the squad.  Here's a picture from about 3 seconds before the hive tyrant got pummeled to death by power fists...

For fun, I spawned gaunts every turn.  Didn't run out and didn't double out in the 6 turns I spawned.

Ended up loosing the game something like 14 to 5, but it was fun.

Started to get a 1000 point game in with someone else, but it had to be cut short after 2 turns - however, in those two turns I did manage to wreck face pretty bad.  No pictures though.
